The Black Stars squad for the 2025 AFCON tournament has been augmented after Norwich City midfielder Amankwah Forson was handed a late call-up ahead of the qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The midfielder was initially excluded from Coach Otto Addo’s 23-man squad but was later invited to join the team as they prepare to take on Angola on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Amankwah will join the team to Kumasi for the team’s second training session at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
With six appearances this season, the 21-year-old midfielder found his niche in the English Championship having made an impressive start with two assists.
A successful pre-match training session will help the Black Stars kick start their Group E opener against Angola on home soil on Thursday afternoon.
The team will later take on Niger on September 9 in Morocco for their second Group E qualifier.
