Cargo Truck Fire Contained At Budumpuram; Firecrackers Suspected To Have Sparked The Fire

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a cargo truck fire (GS 2379-23) at Budumburam on Saturday evening, December 13, 2025, with no casualties recorded.

The distress call was received at 20:16 hours. Despite an out-of-service fire engine, the Budumburam crew, led by STNO II Takyi, responded swiftly using portable fire extinguishers. With reinforcement from the Kasoa Fire Station, the fire was fully extinguished at 22:29 hours.

The truck was carrying hazardous materials, including firecrackers (contrary to E.I. 21 of 1999). Preliminary findings suggest possible spontaneous ignition due to improper storage of hazardous materials.

The truck was largely salvaged, with minor smoke damage, and the incident has been reported to the Police for further investigation.
