AFCON 2025: Sudan Deservedly Beat Black Stars 2-0 In Return Leg

15/10/2024

Ghana plunged deeper into trouble in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after Sudan mercilessly beat the four-time champions on Tuesday, October 15, in the return fixture of their Thursday, October 10 encounter.

The Falcons of Jediane defeated the Black Stars 2-0 in Libya’s city Benghazi on matchday four of the qualifying series.

Sudan took the lead in the 62nd minute through Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud who capitalised on Gideon Mensah’s clearance off the line.

Mohamed Abdel Rahman sealed the victory for the home side after he doubled the lead three minutes later with a well-placed strike.

The Stars struggled to reduce the deficit for Ghana but no attempt of theirs yielded the desired result as the Sudanese defense held firm.

By the whistle, Black Stars’ winless tally in the qualifiers increased to four as the game ended on a 2-0 scoreline.

The Black Stars sit third in Group F with just two points from four games, drawing two and losing two.
