Many are those who have attempted to walk the path of redemption and have failed. Not so with His Excellency, the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, a man full of God’s grace and oil-anointed.
This is manifested in the love and trust bestowed upon him and the NDC by Ghanaians at large.
I send hearty congratulations to him, the former President, for making history in the poise to reset our abysmally-managed economy, kind courtesy of the incompetent Nana Addo-Bawumia-led administration.
I know, and John Dramani Mahama knows, that this huge expression of confidence in him by Ghanaians is not one to take lightly, and I firmly believe in his unparalleled ability to lead the reset agenda this country so desperately needs.
Ghanaians have shown their path, and they trust John Mahama to deliver.
I write this to appreciate every Tom, Dick, and Harry who contributed to this change and remained vigilant in the pursuit of it.
My most esteemed admiration and appreciation go to the former Minority Leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, whose immense commitment toward the historic return of the NDC, its parliamentary candidates, and the nation builder, H.E John Mahama, to the helm of affairs is unmatched. A commitment, resoundingly manifested in the victory of the 2024 general elections.
As a close ally of Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, I have had the pleasurable honor to witness firsthand, his highly commendable work ethic throughout the campaign period.
People whispered doubts of this man who set a target of 90,000 votes in his constituency for the 2024 elections but went on to win over 67,000 votes for himself and 69,000+ for H.E John Dramani Mahama.
It is noteworthy that garnering 69,000 votes is not an easy feat, and in many jurisdictions, three to four constituencies would be needed to achieve such numbers for a single candidate.
Secondly, people must not forget, of the profound statements made by the venerable former Minority Leader during his commissioning of the 12 CHPS compounds he built across his constituency. He acknowledged rising concerns among his constituents about his limited availability in the constituency due to his commitment to galvanizing massive support and campaigns for NDC parliamentary candidates across the country.
Honourable Haruna Iddrisu reminded everyone, of his commitment to his responsibilities to Tamale South Constituency, and asserts his belief in his people to look beyond such petty concerns, and would always ensure he gets voted for into parliament to represent and champion their views and voices. Thus, justifying his immense interest in making sure H.E John Dramani Mahama returns to office of presidency.
He also stated emphatically, that he has never lost any parliamentary election since his win in 2004, and therefore found it extremely worrying that although he won, the NDC and John Mahama lost painfully in the 2016 and 2020 elections.
During his campaign tours, Honourable Aduna ensured various constituencies in the Northern Region were adequately resourced for extensive campaign activities. In this quest, he provided significant sums of money and vehicles to constituencies, including Tolon, Zabzugu, Tatale, Mion, Nanton, Tamale Central, Sagnarigu, and Savelugu.
In the Upper East Region, he extensively aided in party communication trainings, rallies, and campaigns, as well as provided resources for party regional and constituency executives.
He extended similar efforts, to the Savannah and North-East Regions, offering logistical and resource support to help the party recover lost parliamentary seats.
His unwavering support did not just exist in the Northern Regions, but trickled through to the middle and southern regions, all to ensure the return of John Dramani Mahama and lost NDC Parliamentary seats.
A dedication to the party so selfless, that even a week prior to elections, Honourable Aduna was still on campaign assignments in swing constituencies such as Nkoranza, whose inhabitants proposed conditions to be fulfilled in return for their endorsement and votes for the NDC and John Mahama.
Honourable Haruna Iddrisu delivered on these plights, cementing the party’s victory in the constituency.
A leader’s efforts will always speak for him. Honourable Haruna Iddrisu’s qualities are befitting of great leaders, and he lives them effortlessly.
