On December 7, 2024, Ghanaians will queue to elect a successor to President Nana Akufo-Addo and two hundred and seventy-five Legislators who will govern the country for the next four years.
With electioneering campaign being vigorously pursued by parties to break the long-standing NDC and NPP duopoly, expectations are also high given the stakes in this year’s elections.
Ahead of this significant political event, some constituents in the Odododiodioo constituency have shared their views on factors that will inform their choice of vote, and their expectations if their preferred candidates are given the nod.
Odododiodioo a mainly cosmopolitan constituency has been in existence since 1992 and covers communities in Ga Mashie, Ministries, Makola, James Town, Ussher Town and Katamanto.
It shares boundaries with Klottey Korley, Ablekuma South and Dadekotopon.
Some constituents who were engaged shared varied views on their expectations ahead of this year’s general elections.
A trader at Agbogbloshie market Abena Asieduwaa says ever since the government came into power they have neglected the market women.
As a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party, nothing can change her mind to vote for the opposition National Democratic Congress.
Nii also tipped the National Democratic Congress to win and cited their action-driven and result-oriented manifesto as the reason.
He added that the ruling New Patriotic Party should hand over power peacefully to the NDC when the results are declared after the election.
‘Blackie’ as he is popularly known was confident in the NPP retaining power as a result of their numerous accomplishments.
