President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya as the Acting Commissioner for the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) following ongoing restructuring within the Authority aimed at strengthening domestic revenue mobilization.
Dr. Yamborigya, an experienced tax administrator and policy expert, is expected to lead strategic reforms geared toward improving tax compliance, enhancing digital tax systems, and widening the national tax net. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the government intensifies efforts to boost domestic revenue to support national development.
Effective Monday, 17th November,2025, Dr. Yamborigya will oversee the implementation of key initiatives under the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, including taxpayer education, expansion of electronic tax platforms, and improved audit and enforcement mechanisms.
In a press statement released on Saturday 15th November, 2025 Management of GRA has expressed confidence in Dr. Yamborigya’s ability to deliver on the mandate of the division, citing his track record in tax policy leadership and his commitment to public service.
Dr. Yamborigya is expected to begin work immediately as the Authority prepares for the next phase of its revenue mobilization drive.
Prior to his current appointment as Acting Commissioner, Dr. Yamborigya held several senior management positions within the GRA.
These include Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, Head of Post Clearance Audit, DTRD, and Head of Audit for Special Audits (Audit Factory). He also served as Acting Assistant Commissioner at the Commissioner DTRD’s Secretariat.
Additionally, Dr. Yamborigya was the Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), where he was pivotal in leading reforms aimed at improving tax compliance, expanding the tax base, and modernizing domestic tax operations.
His visionary leadership and dedication to service excellence have earned him respect both within the Authority and in the broader tax administration community.
