Chief Executive Officer of Dzata Foundation, a non-governmental organization Vera George has underscored the importance of empowering people to be facilitate self sustainance through livelihood empowerment as opposed to leaving them to feed on breadcrumbs given by politicians.
She made these comments on the sidelines of a livelihood empowerment scheme facilitated together with Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Sam Nartey George to provide various support to residents in the Ningo Prampram constituency as part of their mandate to champion development.
This she says forms part of the drive to broaden the frontiers of livelihood empowerment in the Ningo Prampram which is being undertaken side by side with the office of the Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram constituency.
The two offices teamed up to roll out a scheme to empower constituents pf the area with items ranging from cash as capital to start businesses, deep freezers,sowing machines, motorcycles,tricycles while some drivers were also funded to acquire their driver’s licenses.
In a conversation with Chief Executive Officer for Dzata Foundation Vera George she revealed that the cost of the donations is in the north of some Five Hundred Thousand Cedis and is geared towards empowering the beneficiaries build sustainable means of livelihood to be able to fend for themselves and dependants.
She further outlined some educational projects currently undertaken by the company as well as interventions in healthcare thus, called for support from other donors to sustain this scheme.
Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Sam Nartey George in his address revealed the importance of these interventions to championing sustainable living. He believes self sustenance is the best form of empowerment thus underscored the importance of empowering people to be able to fend for themselves.
Amadu Mariama,Ali Mahama and Alex Todzro who received a deep freezer, a tricycle and a motorcycles respectively shared their excitement with the News Team saying that these donations will go a long way in sustaining their business and help transform the standard of living in their respective families.
