The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), led by ACFO I Peter Tetteh, on Friday, December 12, 2025, conducted a Market Storm Operation and public education exercise at Kejetia Market.

Over 200 officers inspected the market and identified fire safety violations, including unsafe electrical connections, blocked exits, improper storage of flammable materials, and the absence of fire extinguishers.

Traders were directed to rectify the identified violations within the shortest possible time or face sanctions. In addition, traders were engaged through direct public education on fire prevention, early detection, and emergency reporting.

The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to prevent market fires and will be replicated across other major markets in the Ashanti Region.
