Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has emphasized government’s commitment to positioning industrialisation at the centre of Ghana’s economic transformation, stressing that the sector will drive the country’s “next phase of growth.” She made the remarks when she represented President John Dramani Mahama at the 14th Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Awards Night on Saturday.
Addressing industry leaders, the Vice President praised the businesses recognised at the ceremony for demonstrating the ingenuity and resilience needed to build a stronger economy.
“The innovation we celebrate tonight reflects the spirit that must anchor Ghana’s next phase of growth,” she said.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang reiterated that under President Mahama’s leadership, government is revitalising the country’s industrialisation agenda with targeted policies aimed at improving productivity, competitiveness and job creation.
“We are unlocking the full potential of Ghana’s industrial sector,” she stated.
“Policies such as the 24-Hour Economy are designed to encourage industries to operate in productive shifts, boost output and expand employment opportunities.”
She also highlighted the Feed Ghana Programme as a key pillar supporting both agriculture and industry.
“Feed Ghana is enhancing agricultural output to strengthen food security and supply raw materials for our local processing industries,” she noted.

The Vice President urged captains of industry to take advantage of these initiatives as government intensifies efforts to promote value addition and decentralise industrial activity across the regions.
“We are creating an environment that opens new opportunities and expands capacity for sustainable growth,” she said.
Acknowledging the challenges confronting businesses, Professor Opoku-Agyemang assured the private sector that government is committed to addressing operational constraints.
“Easing the burdens facing our industries remains central to our broader strategy. Government stands ready to work hand-in-hand with you to build a resilient and competitive industrial base,” she emphasised.

She congratulated all award winners and nominees, commending their contribution to national development.
“Every business making quiet but steady progress is helping to build a nation anchored on industrial strength. Your work matters, and Ghana is counting on you,” she added.
