Minerals Development Fund Aims At Training Young People In Mining Communities Areas-Administrator

Story by George Yawson Vineh

The Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), Dr. Hannah Bissiw-Kotei is calling on stakeholders in the mining sector to consider forming a taskforce on Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) tracker, and Polluter Pays Principle (PPP), hoping that it will allow mining companies to accurately declare their profits and ensure those who damage forest and water bodies pay for it.

She made this call at a stakeholders’ forum aimed at providing platform for key actors in mining to deliberate strategies to maximize and equitably distribute mineral benefits.
She further assured of setting a training and equip over two thousand, five hundred young people in mining communities this year to strengthen community engagement in mining areas.
