The Office of the Vice President, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, marked this year’s Mother’s Day with a celebration at Jubilee House, honouring mothers and caregivers across the country.

Held under the leadership of Vice President Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the day’s programme was designed to reflect the diverse roles and immense contributions of women in Ghanaian society.
The event unfolded in three parts: breakfast with children, lunch with elderly women, and dinner with head porters, popularly known as “Kayayei.”

Each session brought together women to reflect on their journeys, and receive words of appreciation. The gatherings were marked by music, and heartfelt tributes to the vital role women play in families and communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, delivered the keynote address. She described mothers as “the heart of homes and the pillars of communities,” praising their strength and resilience in the face of daily challenges. Dr. Lartey also reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting women and enhancing their social and economic well-being.

The celebrations were also used as a platform to raise awareness on mental health and general wellness for children, women, and the elderly. Health professionals conducted interactive sessions to educate participants on self-care, emotional health, and access to support systems.
