Otto Addo Names 25-Man Squad For 2025 AFCON Doubleheader Against Sudan

Coach Otto Addo has named a 25-man Black Stars squad for his side’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (2025 AFCON) qualifiers doubleheader against Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan.

The squad which was named on Friday, October 4, 2024, sees the return of defenders Gideon Mensah and Alexander Djiku to the team having missed out on the Angola and Niger qualifying fixtures.

Also making a return to the squad are Ernest Nuamah and Atalanta midfielder, Ibrahim Sulemana who have just recovered from injuries.

Meanwhile, FC Samartex’s left-back, Isaac Afful has earned his first call-up for the male senior national team following his outstanding display of talent in the CAF Champions League.

In-form Thomas Partey remains the captain of the Stars.

After their disappointing qualifying opener games, the Black Stars aim to bring the winless run to an end as they face Sudan on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the Accra Sports Stadium before a return leg on Tuesday, October 15.

CAF rescheduled the qualifying fixtures to the above dates instead of the initial dates, October 11 and 14, 2024.
