President Mahama Appoints Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of Customs Division

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as the Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen revenue mobilization and enhance efficiency within the country’s customs administration.

Mr. Kanor is expected to oversee operations at the Customs Division, ensuring strict compliance with customs laws, improving trade facilitation, and intensifying the fight against smuggling and revenue leakages at the nation’s ports and borders.

Mr. Kanor is an accomplished Customs professional with over three decades of
distinguished service in revenue mobilization, border security, and trade facilitation at
GRA. He has a wealth of experience, strategic insight, and dedication to Public Service.

His appointment as Ag. Commissioner of the Customs Division reflects a career defined
by integrity, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Kanor served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where
he oversaw critical Customs functions including enforcement of customs laws, revenue
collection, and trade facilitation. His leadership has contributed significantly to
strengthening border security systems and enhancing compliance within Ghana’s
international trade environment.

The Customs Division plays a critical role in revenue generation for the state, as well as safeguarding Ghana’s borders from the influx of prohibited goods. As Acting Commissioner, Mr. Kanor will also be tasked with strengthening stakeholder engagement with freight forwarders, importers, and other players within the trade sector.
