A seven-member committee has been constituted to investigate the circumstances leading to the collapse of a building at Roman Ridge in Accra. The committee is tasked to uncover the root causes of the incident and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
The collapsed building left 14 construction workers critically injured on Tuesday, 28 October, 2025, at the premises of the Architectural Engineering Group sited within Roman Ridge.
Emergency response teams, including personnel drawn from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Police, rushed to the scene to save those trapped under the rubble. This was confirmed by Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Fire Service, Divisional Officer II Desmond Essoun Ackah.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso West Assembly, Dr. Michael Mensah, in a press briefing on Wednesday, October 29 inaugurated the seven-member committee to investigate the cause of the incident and promised to make the report ready to the public in two weeks time.

The committee comprises representatives from the Ghana Institution of Engineers, the Ghana Institute of Architects, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Police Service, and the Environmental Protection Agency, among others.
Their mandate includes reviewing the building’s architectural and structural designs, assessing the approval and supervision processes, and identifying possible lapses in enforcement of building regulations.
Speaking at the inauguration, the MCE emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability and safety in the construction industry. He said the findings of the committee would guide policy reforms to strengthen building inspection and regulatory systems across the country.
Meanwhile, rescue efforts have since concluded, and the affected workers are receiving medical attention at various health facilities in Accra.
