Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has lauded the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team for their stellar performance at the Universities World Football Tournament in Dalian, China.
The University for Development Studies made history as the first African university to reach the quarterfinals of the global competition, a milestone the Vice President described as a source of pride for both Ghana and the continent.

“I warmly congratulate the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team on their historic achievement at the Universities World Football Tournament in Dalian, China. By becoming the first African university to reach the quarterfinals of this prestigious competition, you have made Ghana and Africa proud on the global stage,” she said.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang underscored the government’s support for the team, urging them to continue with the values that have brought them this far. “The nation stands firmly behind you. Continue to play with courage, integrity, and passion. You have already made us proud, and we look forward to celebrating even greater successes with you,” she added.
Reaffirming her admiration, the Vice President emphasized: “This remarkable achievement has made Ghana and Africa proud on the global stage. We stand firmly behind you as you continue to inspire with courage and passion.”
