The Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara has pleaded with fans of the club to exercise patience and refrain from the use of insults as their way of criticising the team for their season kick-off poor performance.
Ouattara believes that the club’s long-term project has the remedies for their weaknesses hence urged fans not to lose hope.
Hearts recorded their first win of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season having defeated Bechem United at the new University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
This victory was preceded by back-to-back losses in their first two games of the new season after they locked horns with Heart of Lions and Basake Holy Stars; losing by 2-0 and 1-0 goal margins respectively.
These defeats brought the former league champions under serious pressure from the fans who are calling for the dismissal of coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
However, the gaffer still believes he can turn things around for the club.
“Hearts of Oak has a big project. The project is to build a strong team to go and conquer, not just to win for the sake of it,” Ouattara assured.
“Today, I kept faith in the team, and they responded well. It shows that we are human, but also that I am learning from these experiences and not repeating mistakes,” he added after the game against Bechem.
He further pleaded with the fans of the club to desist from launching verbal attacks on both the technical team and players alike.
“You can criticise us and say anything you like, but please do not insult [us]. What we need is unity. We need to stay together, and if that happens, I think we can achieve a lot,” Ouattara pleaded.
Hearts of Oak’s victory on Sunday takes the club to the 10th position on the league table as they look forward to beating Nations FC in their fourth game of the season.
