363 police recruits sworn-in at the Ho Police Training School

The Commanding Officer for the Ho Regional Police Training School, Chief Superintendent William Yankee Acolatse has charged new recruits to be disciplined and uphold the regulations of the school.

He made this comment at the school’s inaugural ceremony, held to usher in the new recruits into the school.

A total of 363 recruits have been sworn-in at the Regional Police Training School, Ho on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

They include 49 graduates and 314 recruits with other certificates. The recruits took the Oath of Enlistment and the Oath of Secrecy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commanding Officer for the Ho Regional Police Training School, Chief Superintendent William Yankee Acolatse, charged the new recruits to be disciplined and uphold the regulations of the school.

He also reminded them of the institution’s stance on undisciplined behavior, saying the school will not tolerate recalcitrant recruits and will not hesitate to dismiss anyone who flouts any of their rules. He urged the recruits to be guided by the COVID-19 protocols in the school.

Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Oduro Kwateng, welcomed the recruits to the Training School and intimated that they count themselves privileged to be at the best Centre; since the school produced the overall best recruits, two consecutive times in the last Standardized Recruit Final Examination.

He entreated the recruits to be humble and commit their time to their studies and other non-academic training, saying the battles are only won after hard training so as to become effective police officers.

Some recruits expressed their joy and acknowledged the level of discipline in the school. They were also happy about the serene atmosphere within which they would be trained.

The Ho Regional Police Training School was officially opened on 18th August 1961 for the training of Local Authority staff. Seven years after, the formal training of 64 Police recruits started in the school in 1968. The school has since produced a good deal of recruits including the former who have excelled in diverse areas within the Service.
