Ghana’s beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, surprisingly avoided an early elimination from the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after thrashing their counterparts from Tanzania 10-3 in the final Group A game on Tuesday morning.

The much-needed victory comes just when all hopes were lost following the Sharks’ disappointing losses to host Egypt and Morocco in their first and second group games, respectively.

The team put up a relentless performance to suppress Tanzania and prolong their stay in the competition.

Alexander Adjei’s display of scintillating skills earned him a quadruple (4 goals) making him a valuable player of the competition.

Similarly, the Sharks forward Wise Nyamadi also inked his name on the scoresheet having scored a hat-trick for the team.

The Ghanaian forward opened the scoring in the early minutes of the game before Adjei doubled the advantage with goalkeeper Robert Nyadedzor and Richard Osai giving Ghana a comfortable 4-0 lead from the first quarter.

The East African side came back from the break to reduce the deficit but Nyamadi extended the Sharks’ lead to maintain the goal margin.

Tanzania added their second goal before Adjei completed his hat-trick with two more goals. He finished the period with his fourth as Ghana boost an 8-2 lead.

Nyamadi and Nyadedzor scored in the final period to make it ten for Ghana.

However, Tanzania got a late consolation but was not enough for any comeback.

Ghana will face the third-placed team in Group B as the tournament progresses.
