Borstal Home benefits from refurbished Smart lab

An abandoned ICT lab at the Senior Correctional Centre in Accra has received a facelift through support from benevolent institutions to enhance IT training of inmates at the facility.

In an interview Officer-in-charge of the facility, ADP Millicent Owusu further called on the general public for continuous support and assistance.

The centre which currently houses about two hundred and twenty inmates with an average of one hundred and five young offenders every year and a minimum stay of three months has been left without training of ICT for inmates due to the bad nature of the facility.

It was a joyful and eventful day for them as Sarfoa Foundation, Good Causes Foundation under the NLA and the Coral Reef Innovation Hub commissioned the renovated facility to help enhance IT training of inmates at the centre.

In an interview, Officer-in-Charge of the Centre ADP Millicent Owusu expressed excitement over the exercise and called on other philanthropists to come to their aid as most of their workshops are in a deplorable state.

Director-General of the National Lottery Authority Samuel Awuku also touched on the need to support and assist the Correctional Centre.
