CFG begins training of over 900 coffee farmers

As part of efforts to address challenges faced by coffee farmers in some specific coffee growing regions in Ghana, the Coffee Federation of Ghana (CFG) in partnership with other organizations have begun the training of over 900 coffee farmers in six coffee growing regions across Ghana.

The training, which is being steered with the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) and COCOBOD seek to address challenges faced by coffee farmers.

Earlier this year, the Coffee Federation of Ghana with its partners disembarked on a field mission in some of these coffee growing regions including Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Bono and Bono East Regions.

The purpose of the trip was to discover challenges associated with coffee production as well as value chain to set up priorities for sustainable impact in the development of the coffee sector.

The training according to a press release issued in Accra by the Federation will last for a period of two weeks.

The main focus of the programme is to train the farmers in modern methods of coffee farming in order to help them expand their yield.

This, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo believes will help generate more revenue to balance the country’s deficit in export promotions.
