Coalition charges TUC to renegotiate 4% salary increment or threaten strike action

A group known as the Coalition against the Leadership of Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Organized Labor Unions has kicked against the 4% salary increment and asked the leadership of the two unions to go back for a renegotiation and bargain with government for a 15% salary increment for public service workers.

This according to the coalition has never happened in the history of Ghana and sees it as a clear indication that the union leadership is only after their parochial interest and cautioned for an industrial strike if this is not rectified.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the Executive Secretary of the Coalition, Azubila Salam Emmanuel says they are not conceding on their fight to get fair treatment from the leadership of the TUC and set a ten days ultimatum for them to go back and renegotiate for a 15 per cent increment.

He also added that the thirteen thousand members of the coalition will not allow the current leadership to continue to steer the affairs of the union if they make negotiations that are inimical to their interest.
