In the quietness of time, while the office/administration of the Creative Arts Agency of Ghana was taking shape and the constitution of its Board was in the process, Mr. Gideon Aryeequaye took bold steps to ensure that some low-hanging fruits were plucked/harvested. Most of these by the agency or in partnership with stakeholders were geared towards spotlighting the marginalized or eclipsed domains of the sector and piloting some of the projects earmarked for execution in fulfilling the manifesto promises of the government—in terms of Human Resource Development.

First among them was the successful hosting of the maiden edition of a National Writing Festival dubbed “*Writin’val*”.
“Writin’val” among other objectives was dedicated towards establishing the fact that the literary (Book) industry is indeed, a domain under the Creative Arts (Fine Arts) whose products benefit other sectors including education.

The festival produced by the Creative Arts Agenncy and Adwinsa Publications Ghana Ltd in partnership with the National Theatre of Ghana, received huge patronage—from basic, senior and tertiary schools. As well as other literary stakeholders. It also featured prominent literary personalities such as Prof. Ladé Wosornu, Dr. Sarah Dorgbadzi, Apiorkor, Mr. Bosompim among others in workshops, conversations, performances etc.
In all, the festival hosted over 300 participants at the National Theatre of Ghana. Attached are pictures from the festival.
