Disrespect: Dancing On Nkrumah’s Grave

Dancing On Nkrumah’s Grave

By Abena Osegu Boateng
Another disrespect to the founder of the modern Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame
Nkrumah is just about to be inaugurated by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the
Republic.

An official announcement from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture says that the Kwame
Nkrumah Memorial Park which has now been renovated “to promote night life” will be opened at
10:00 am on July 4,2023.

According to a letter dated June 27,2023 and signed by John Yao Agbeko, the Chief Director of
the Ministry, the park has been fitted with enhanced features including a restaurant, craft shop,
mini amphitheatre, and Presidential Library.

Obviously we are now being invited by the Akufo-Addo government to wine, dine and dance on
the grave of Nkrumah.
What a befitting tribute from those who continue to hate Nkrumah with passion and support the
CIA sponsored coup of February 24, 1966?

Nkrumah’s greatness does not lie in his burial ground but the validity of the ideas he imbibed and
spread for Pan Africanism and Socialism.

Akufo-Addo and his friends can dance on his grave but he will continue to be the real founder of
the modern Republic of Ghana and the Chief inspirer of a United Africa prospering under the
banner of socialism
