GCB building at Nkwanta escaped inferno

The Nkwanta branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank escaped destruction after properties, including money, food staffs among other things got burnt in a house next to the financial institution.

According to eyes’ account, it took the intervention of the community members to stop the fire from spreading to other buildings.

Elikpelim Danyo is a victim and a wife to the owner of the burnt building. She said all her belongings got burnt including her business proceeds of about 5,000 Ghana cedis. According to Elikplim, she came back from Burkina Faso where she got her supply of tomatoes which will be retailed here in Ghana the day before the inferno. Consequently, her business as a trader has been shuttered.

Landlord of the burnt house, Moses Nuamesi narrating to Pan African News says they were preparing to church on Sunday  morning 30th January 2022, where he received a call that his house was on fire.

“I don’t know where the fire started from and I don’t understand how it started. I was called that my house is on fire when I was on my way to church this morning so I quicky have to return to the house where I saw the entire house burnt to ashes”.

The victims are calling on NDMO for support as well as government as they are currently displaced.
