Ghanaians Charged to Change Their Mindset Towards Road Crashes.

The Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has asked Ghanaians to desist from attributing road accidents to witchcraft but rather bear full responsibility in handling them.

He made this disclosure at the the launch of the ‘Stay Alive Campaign’ in Accra.

Data compiled by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service shows that 1,751 males made up of 193 below the ages of 18 and 1, 558 who are 18 years and above die as a result of road crashes.

Commenting on the recent Inter-Ministerial Committee set up by the President of the Republic last month, the Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah disclosed that, some concrete measures in dealing with road accidents were proposed and will soon be rolled out effectively to help deal the menace.

Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority May Obiri-Yeboah expressed worry about the current percentage of the country’s GDP spent on road traffic crashes and lauded the launch of the campaign.

The media is also expected to sensitize the public on impact of road crashes to help curb the menace.
