President Mahama leads Ghana delegation to UNGA in New York

President John Dramani Mahama has departed with Ghana’s delegation to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York which commences on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025.
In a presidential statement signed by the Minister in charge of government communications Felix Ofosu-Kwakye, President Mahama is to deliver Ghana’s national statement during the General Debate on Thursday, September 25, focusing on the theme “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development and Human Rights”.

“President Mahama will also engage with the US Africa Chamber of Commerce and make a historic visit to NASDAQ stock exchange, where he is expected to ring the closing bell”, the statement noted.

Ghana’s President is also the African Unions Champion for Financial Institutions, and will host a major side event on September 24 to discuss Africa’s financial independence of which Ghana will co-host a high-level side event with Senegal on September 25 to advance the African Union’s campaign for reparative justice for Africans and people of African descent.
President Mahama will meet with world leaders, including the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Rockefeller Foundation, to discuss development cooperation, peace, climate change, and economic partnerships.
The delegation includes;
– Chief of Staff Julius Debrah
– Executive Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama
– Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
– Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh
– Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare
– First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama, who’ll attend side events and deliver a keynote address at a World Vision International prayer service

The delegation is expected to return to Ghana on September 30 after participating in the high-level week of the UNGA from September 22 to 30.
