PUPILS ALARMED OF POSSIBLE NEGATIVE IMPACT AS THEY PREPARE FOR BECE

Pupils of Ogbolu Methodist Junior High School in the Coaltar District of the Eastern Region are calling on government to refurbish their edifice.

According to them, the poor nature of the facility is impeding effective teaching and learning.

I arrived at the school with my crew on Friday morning and met none of the teaching and non-teaching staff.

After a thorough assessment and evaluation of the situation, I interacted with two final year pupils namely Abigail and Lilly who passionately appealed to the government to refurbish their school building which is in a deplorable state.

The school structure from JHS 1 to JHS 3 is made of bamboo and covered with rusted iron sheets with dusty ground is posing a great fear and panic to the students hence the attention by authorities is urgently needed.

They young girls says they can’t learn in the condition of the building and run to the house anytime it rains.

This menace according to the Assistant Head teacher of the school, Tetteh Nyanyo has been like this for the past ten years and several attempts to draw the DCE’s attention and that of the sitting MP for the area, Charles Acheampong has proved futile.

The situation was no different in Kwaboanta a neighbouring town where pupils of an educational institution studied under extremely worrying conditions.

One of the teachers I spoke to, said the facility which was established some thirty years ago hasn’t received any facelift and required urgent attention.
