The Volta regional police command is continuing its efforts at engaging schools on defilement and other sexual-related offences in the region.
The team visited the Volta barracks basic school in Ho, bringing the number of students so far educated to about two thousand, five hundred and thirty.
Coordinator for the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Volta Region ASP Faustina Awumey with her Deputy, ASP Juliana Wiah took time to educate the pupils on defilement.
The pupils were advised to be bold and report offenders on time anytime they fall victim to such crimes.
The pupils were also educated on the general tactics used by offenders before, during and after they defile their victims.
Girls and boys whose fathers or siblings have been harassing them for sex at home, were also told to be bold and report such relatives.
ASP Faustina Awumey indicated that when parents or guardians defile children they are prosecuted and the children are taken from that hostile environment to safety. She also cautioned the pupils not to allow their parents or religious leaders to settle such matters at home.
