The Ghana Garden and Flower Movement (GGFM), an initiative to create awareness among Ghanaians about the commercial, aesthetic and health benefits of horticulture and floriculture, has launched the ninth edition of the show August 25, 2021.

The main event, which is aimed at bringing together stakeholders in the flowers and gardens sector to showcase the countries potential in the industry, is however slated for August 25-29, 2021, at the Efua Sunderland Children’s park here in Accra.

The reason for this initiative was to promote among others a culture of environmental awareness and friendliness, contribute to the creation of employment opportunities in the horticulture and floriculture industry, promote gardening as a source of healthy relaxation and fun, and showcase Ghana’s flora and fauna to the world and instill a sense of pride among Ghanaians. This agenda of promoting a greener, cleaner, healthier, wealthier and more beautiful Ghana, via its themes such us sustainable gardening in Ghana, gardening for value: health, beauty, jobs and income.

Mayor of Accra Metropolitan, Hon. Nii Adjei Sowah addressing the gathering during the launch, says his external help to the initiative is more of enhancing lives and not the status of the city, and promoting climate change.

The Chief Executive Officer of STRACOM organizers of the event, Madam Esther A. N Cobbah encouraged the public to join the Ghana Gardens Flower Movement, and also be part and parcel in their program outline. She also linked the nurturing of plants to women nurturing children saying it is the best nature.
