Leader of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has stressed on the need to decentralise development in the country.

Addressing an ecstatic group of party sympathisers at Adjen Kotoku in Accra, the former President indicated that a Adjen Kotoku and its catchment areas will be transformed into an industrial zone which will boost productivity and employment.

Speaking on the concentration of factories and manufacturing companies in Tema, Mr. Mahama noted that it was important to spread development and not put all of our eggs in one basket as a country.

β€œWe will designate Adjen Kotoku and its surrounding areas including Amasaman and Suhum to be an industrial zone. Any individual or organisation willing to put up a factory will have to do it in this enclave”, he emphasised.

Amidst loud cheers and excitement, the NDC flagbearer also touched on the 24 hour economic policy revealing that factories that will be set up in that enclave will have to sign up to the policy. He added that these factories will be given tax rebates in order to enhance growth and increase youth employment.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Mahama reiterated his promise of increasing police visibility in order to ensure the safety and security of people in the 24-hour economy. This, according to him will be done through a proper recruitment of personnel into the service.

John Mahama has been touring the Greater Accra Region to trumpet his β€˜Bulging the Ghana we want’ agenda. Having already visited Ada, Sege, Ashaiman and been welcomed cheerfully, his hopes are high of victory in the upcoming polls.
