The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, on behalf of Ghana has extended his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju and the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBC) following the boxer’s untimely demise in Ghana.

Mr. Adams also extended his message of condolence to boxing fans and the global boxing fraternity while acknowledging the devastating loss.

The Nigerian boxer lost his life during his bout against Ghanaian opponent, John Mbanugu, who also happens to have a Nigerian parentage.

Oluwasegun who reportedly dominated round one of the bout, was seen in vial videos collapsing onto the boxing ring just 14 seconds to the end of round 3 of the scheduled eight-round match, but was later pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
