CTVET To Begin Harmonized Exams For 61,506 On May 18 LOCAL NEWS POLITICS by George Vineh Yawson - May 14, 2026May 14, 20260 Wednesday May 13, 2026 Story by George Yawson Vineh The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) has announced that a total of 61,506 candidates from both public and private technical institutions across the country will sit for the 2026 May/June Technical and Vocational Education and Training examinations beginning May 18, 2026. According to the Commission, the examinations will run from May 18 to June 12, with 59,754 candidates writing the Certificate II examinations while 1,754 candidates will participate in other traditional TVET examinations. The figure represents an 8.06 percent increase compared to last year’s 55,295 candidates. Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday May 13, Director-General of CTVET, Zakaria Sulemana, urged students to adequately prepare for the examinations and avoid all forms of examination malpractice. He stressed that TVET programmes such as welding engineering, hospitality, automotive engineering, fashion, catering and cosmetology are designed to equip learners with practical and employable skills needed for the job market. Mr. Sulemana explained that the examinations are not only meant to assess academic performance but also to preserve the credibility and integrity of Ghana’s TVET qualification system. He assured stakeholders that the Commission remains committed to ensuring a transparent, fair and secure examination process nationwide. The Director-General further disclosed that this year marks the first time harmonized curricula examinations will be administered across all aligned TVET institutions under the Ministry of Education and CTVET, following the implementation of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act. He added that core subject papers are scheduled to take place between May 23 and May 25, while elective subject examinations will run from May 28 to June 12. Special arrangements have also been put in place to support candidates living with disabilities during the examination period.
