Development In Anyaa Sowutuom; NDC Sets Record Straight On Achievements.

By Makiza Micheline Latifa

The Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have set the record straight and responded to what they describe as a blatant misinformation and biased reportage presented in a recent constituency projects comparison on the Anyaa Sowutuom constituency by an Accra based TV station (Adom Television).

According to the party, the project analysis comparison was clearly designed to undermine the significant achievements of the NDC government in the constituency and was riddled with inaccuracies, half truths and deliberate distortions of facts.

Anyaa Sowutuom, located in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana is one of the constituencies that broke away from the now defunct Weija constituency and includes areas like Ablekuma, Awoshie, Santa-Maria and others.

Addressing the media at the Anyaa Sowutuom Yam market, constituency secretary of the party, Edem Asamoah Attachie vehemently stated that, the lack of specificity of projects undertaken by the NPP in the area indicates the report’s bias and lack of credibility.

“We noted that the project analysis failed to specify the exact locations of the projects purportedly undertaken by the NPP government. The fact that it could not point out the exact location suggests that the motive behind the report was to misinform the people of Anyaa Sowutuom and the country at large, Edem said.”

He also highlighted the factual account of the numerous successes and developmental projects undertaken by the NDC administration in the Anyaa Sowutuom constituency.

“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is proud to highlight its achievements in the health sector in the Anyaa Sowutuom constituency. Despite the NPP government’s abandonment of these projects, we remain committed to quality healthcare for our people, Edem detailed.”

Completed Projects:

  • Anyaa Polyclinic, located at the Anyaa bus terminal, providing accessible healthcare services to the community.
  • Rented facilities for CHIPS compounds at TABORA and Anyaa Palas town, ensuring that healthcare services reach all corners of the constituency.

Projects Left to be Operationalized:

  • Olebu CHIPS compound, which only requires operationalization to serve the healthcare needs of Ghanaians.

Roads and Drains:

  • Constructed 15 km of Awoshie-Pokuase Road.
  • Built over 100 km of inner roads within Lomnava, Anyaa East and West, Awoshie, and Sowutuom electoral areas.
  • Constructed U-drains at Anyaa, Sowutuom, Kwashiebu, Auntie Aku, Awoshie, Santa Maria, and Chantan, improving drainage and reducing flooding.

Classroom Blocks:

  • 4-storey 37-unit classroom block with two offices and ancillary facilities at Ablekuma Curve St. Justin Anglican Primary and JHS.
  • 3-storey 10-unit classroom block with two ancillary facilities at Auntie Aku Kokompe Park.
  • 2-storey 10-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Odorgonnor Model.

  • 2-storey 6-unit classroom block at Abeka Motorway primary school.

According to the National Democratic Congress(NDC), it is committed to improving the lives of the constituents through investment in education, health, justice, security, infrastructure and social facilities.

The party also stated that it will not allow misinformation to go unchallenged and will ensure that the people of Anyaa Sowutuom and the country are informed of the true progress made.

With a voter population of 140,527 per the 2023 registration exercise conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is considered to be one of the constituencies with the highest number of voters in the country.
