Family of the late Dr. Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen is calling for the National Cultural Centre to be renamed in honour of their late son.
In an interview with my colleague George Yawson Vineh, Ambassador for Culture, Nana Anim Obiri disclosed that, the decision to do the needful was long overdue.
The National Commission on Culture grew into a ‘national treasure’ and in 1962, the first National Festival of Arts and Culture was held at the National Cultural Centre.
The centre was renamed the Ghana National Cultural Centre following Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s visit there in 1963.
According to the family, perpetuating the state-owned facility in honour of Dr. Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen will go a long way as a befitting tribute to their noble son.
