GPRTU directs government to review levies on fuel products

Head of Communications for the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, Abass Imoro has urged government to review their proposal in other to scrap levies imposed on the fuel products.

According to him, government should put their best foot forward to reduce the prices of fuel and alleviate suffering of Ghanaians in the midst of economic hardship.

At the beginning of the year, petrol and diesel were trading at an average of 6.9ghc and 7ghc per litre respectively.

Currently fuel prices at the local pumps shot up by about 5.4 percent from September 1, 2022, with petrol and diesel trading at an average of 11.55ghc and 14.50ghc respectively.

Speaking in an interview pertaining to the aforementioned issue, Head of Communications for Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (G.P.R.T.U) Abass Imoro noted emphatically that government should go back to the drawing board and review their proposals i.e reduce taxes and levies slapped on fuel prices in order not to burden the ordinary Ghanaian in addition to hike in transport fares if their association should go for a sit-down meeting.
