Lectures have commenced at the university of Ghana Legon, following the suspension of the industrial action by the University Teacher’s Association of Ghana (UTAG).

On n Monday, January 10, 2022, the University Teachers Association of Ghana began its industrial action to demand better conditions of service and a hike in salaries of lecturers.
After more than a month of staying away from the lecture halls, members of the association arrived at a decision to suspend the strike following a court order.
Majority of lecturers across some seven public universities in the country voted against the decision by UTAG’s national Executive Committee (NEC) to suspend its nationwide strike.
The dissenting lecturers include those from the University of Ghana Legon, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Education Winneba, the University of Professional Studies, Accra, the S D Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies and the University of Energy and Natural Resources. However, a visit to Ghana’s premier higher institution of learning has revealed that, students were given a notice from the school authorities via electronic mail that lectures will begin February 28, 2022.
In an interview, some of the students expressed their excitement over the official resumption of academic work at the school.
The resumption of lectures has been widely hailed by students whose academic pursuit was in jeopardy.
