Police Arrest Four Suspects Over Alleged Assault At Ashongman Estate

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four field officers of Bills Micro-Credit Limited for allegedly assaulting a woman at Ashongman Estate in Accra. The incident occurred on March 13, 2026, when the officers, identified as Denis Wornyo, 38, Albert Amarh, 40, Ebenezer Amartei, 23, and Atsu Lawson, 27, visited the woman’s residence to demand repayment of a loan.

According to reports, the officers allegedly assaulted the woman, Hagar Emaser, 42, during the confrontation. A video of the incident circulated on social media, sparking widespread criticism and prompting the police to launch an investigation.

The Kwabenya District Police Command arrested the suspects on March 15, 2026, and they are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Bills Micro-Credit Limited has also suspended the officers involved and is cooperating with the police investigation ¹ ² ³.

The Accra Regional Police Command has urged members of the public who experience assault or similar offenses to promptly report such incidents to the police.
