Vice President and Chairperson of the Ghana Armed Forces Council, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has described the introduction of the Multi-Domain Operations and Future Wars modules at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College as timely, given the evolving nature of contemporary security threats.
She noted that the changing security environment, marked by terrorism, climate change, trans-border crime, and other emerging risks, required military officers to be equipped with advanced skills and new perspectives to effectively respond.
Speaking at the joint graduation ceremony of the College on Friday, Professor Opoku-Agyemang said the inclusion of digitization awareness and cybersecurity in the training curriculum further demonstrated the institution’s readiness to prepare officers for the realities of modern warfare.
“The introduction of the Multi-Domain Operations and Future Wars modules in the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College is timely, given the evolving nature of contemporary security threats,” she stated.
“With the role that technology is now playing in shaping the trajectory of modern security operations in the battle space, digitization awareness and cybersecurity issues are also welcome in the curriculum,” she added.
The event saw 135 officers graduate, including 30 from 16 allied African countries, alongside civilians who pursued programmes in Defence, International Affairs, and Security Studies.
The Vice President commended the College for maintaining high academic standards despite the increasing number of students, adding that government remained committed to supporting the institution to enhance teaching and learning.
She also congratulated the graduates, urging them to uphold integrity, foresight, adaptability, and a commitment to the greater good in their future leadership roles.
