The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has held a community dialogue at Osu in Accra to address domestic violence, child marriage and bullying among children. The engagement brought together community members and key stakeholders to promote awareness and strengthen efforts to protect women and children.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is intensifying community-level engagements to address social and protection issues affecting women and children.
Speaking to the media after the dialogue on Friday September 11, 2026 at Osu in Accra, the Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Honorable Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey said the community dialogue focusing on domestic violence, child marriage and child bullying is aimed at providing a platform for residents, parents, children and stakeholders to discuss the causes and effects of these issues, as well as practical measures to prevent them.
The dialogue also highlighted the need for parents, schools, traditional leaders and community members to work together to identify and respond to cases of child bullying and other forms of violence against children.
On her part, Member of Parliament for Korey Korley who doubles as the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Honorable Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings encouraged participants to speak out against domestic violence and practices that expose children to abuse, exploitation and other forms of harm, stressing that protecting children requires collective responsibility, while urging communities to report suspected cases to the appropriate authorities.
The Ministry says such community dialogues will help strengthen public awareness and encourage communities to create safer environments where women and children can live, learn and develop without fear of violence or abuse.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to promote the rights and protection of women and children and prevent violence at the community level.
