Ghana to Lead Conversations on Ending Learning Poverty at ADEA 2025 – Haruna Iddrisu

Ghana is set to take the lead in continental discussions on tackling learning poverty as the country prepares to host the 2025 Triennale of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA).

Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, announced at a press briefing in Accra that the high-level event will be held from 29th to 31st October 2025 at the Labadi Beach Hotel. The conference is expected to bring together over 350 participants, including 30 African Ministers of Education, as well as global partners such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, UNESCO, FCDO, Gates Foundation, and MasterCard Foundation.

With the theme “Strengthening the resilience of Africa’s educational systems: advancing towards ending learning poverty by 2035 with a well-educated and skilled workforce for the continent and beyond,” the Triennale will focus on strategies to ensure that every child in Africa has access to quality learning opportunities.

Hon. Iddrisu said Ghana’s hosting of the event reaffirms its commitment to education reforms that promote equity, inclusiveness, and innovation.

“Ghana is honoured to lead this important continental dialogue on ending learning poverty and building resilient education systems. We are ready to host Africa and the world for meaningful engagement on the future of education,” he said.

The Minister added that the event will provide a vital platform for policymakers, educators, and development partners to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration across the continent.

The conference will be officially opened by President John Dramani Mahama.

Participation is free, and interested persons can register via the ADEA website at https://triennale.adeanet.org/form/registration.
