3 Dead, 11 injured in head on collision at Ajumako Kokoben

Three people lost their lives while eleven others sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving a Toyota Isuzu (GE 1361-25) and a Toyota Voxy (CN 478-26) at Ajumako Kokoben in the Central Region on Monday, 20th July 2026.

According to the Central Regional Fire Service Command, a distress call was received at 1210hrs, and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene at 1219hrs. Four victims were rescued by firefighters, while seven others had been rescued by passersby before the crew’s of the service arrived. The injured were handed over to medical personnel for treatment.

Preliminary information from a passenger indicated that the Toyota Voxy was allegedly overtaking another vehicle at high speed when poor visibility caused by dust led to a head-on collision with the oncoming Toyota Isuzu. The exact cause of the accident is, however, under investigation.

Firefighters secured the scene, cleared the roadway, and restored the free flow of traffic before returning to base at 1407hrs.
