A gas explosion at Kpassa in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region has left about seven persons suffering varying degrees of injuries. The explosion is suspected to have been caused by a gas leak in one of the residential apartments in the District. Seven people including a journalist Kwaku Mensah Akrobeto Seth (KAM) have sustained multiple degree of injuries after gas exploded in at an apartment. The explosion is said to have occurred at a residential neighborhood. According to sources, the explosion was caused by a gas leakage, which caused significant damage where seven people suffered injuries from the flying fire debris and shards. According to them, the deplorable state of the facility is affecting healthcare delivery in the community. Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has commissioned a new rice ‘Common User’ factory at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West district of the Bono Region. At the launch of the facility, he indicated that government has solved the challenge by extending electricity to start production as it will add value to the production of rice in the region. A newly-outdoored civil society group, Coalition for Democratic Accountability and Inclusive Governance has called on government to render a comprehensive accountability to the citizens for state funds among others. In an interaction with the media, Member of the group who doubles as Executive Director of West Africa Civil Society Institute, Nana Asantewaa Afadzinu, bemoaned corruption in the public sector which remains an existential threat to Ghana’s democracy. She also called on the public to wake up to their responsibilities and insist the right things are done for the betterment of the nation. The staff of Zoomlion Ghana limited, a firm that provides waste management and environmental sanitation services have held a health walk in collaboration with the media. The three-hour event-themed ‘walk for clean environment’ began at the Ayi Mensah toll booth and ended at the Peduase Methodist junior high school. It was all joy and funfair as staff of the waste management giant participated in the energy-sapping activity designed to enable them to live healthier and longer. Artisans working and operating at the Arts Centre in Accra have expressed worry over poor working conditions which are affecting the success and sustainability of their business. Two armed robbers who were arrested by the police in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region have been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment each for robbery. The two Emeka Opara and Samuel Kalo, were arrested on May 30, 2022, following their attack on a victim at ECOBANK, Abrepo Junction, where they succeeded in bolting with a bag containing an amount of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 30, 000.00). The Police were able to retrieve the GH₵ 30, 000.00 and successfully prosecute them.
