The Progressive Peoples Party, has called for the declaration of December 7 as #FixTheConstitution Day.
In an interaction with the media, the party’s Executive Director Richard Nii Armah, decried the country’s underdevelopment and also backed calls for amendment of the 1992 constitution.
In 2010 President J E A Mills of blessed memory constituted the Constitution Review Commission chaired by Professor Albert Fiadzoe to consult Ghanaians on how the constitution operated and suggest procedures for amendment.
After the body concluded its findings and submitted their report, much has not being said or heard about whether their recommendations was implemented or not.
The People’s Progressive Party has stressed the need for an amendment of the 1992 constitution and cited four areas in it which require immediate attention.
Though the party is yet to collaborate with stakeholders for a national programme to demand the immediate amendments, they have also lamented on the investment in the Constitutional Review exercise conducted during the era of former President John Evans Atta-Mills insisting they won’t sit down for the investment to go waste.
End.
