Government supports farmers with fertilizer and drones under Feed Ghana Programme LOCAL POLITICS by panafricantv - June 17, 2026June 17, 20260 Story by George Yawson VINEH The government has intensified efforts to modernize agriculture with the distribution of fertilizers and agricultural drones under its Feed Ghana Programme to support farmers and boost food production across the country.Addressing attendees at an event at the Ministry on Tuesday June 16, 2026, Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku urged beneficiary farmers to make good use of the fertilizers and drones describing the deployment of the farm resources as a milestone in Ghana’s transition from traditional farming methods to precision agriculture knowing that technology plays a critical role in boosting productivity, reducing cost and making agriculture more attractive to young people. He further stressed that the equipment should not be diverted or left idle but should serve as tools to improve agricultural productivity and enhance the livelihoods of farming households.Assuring the Minister, National President for the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana, Douglas Annor reaffirmed their commitment to working with stakeholders to ensure food security and fairness in the distribution of the farm resources. The initiative is aimed at increasing productivity through the use of modern technology while reducing the cost and time involved in farm operations. The drones will be used for precision spraying, fertilizer application and crop monitoring, helping farmers improve yields and minimize losses.
