The Local Governance Network (LOGNet) has pledged its support for the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, with a call to help address pressing challenges affecting effective local governance.
During a courtesy call on the Ministry to congratulate the Minister on his appointment, Chairman of the Steering Committee of LOGNet, John Nkaw, said issues such as delay in the release of the district common fund needed to be addressed.
The courtesy-call on the sector minister was also to discuss social contract issues and how to enhance the working relationship between the Minister and CSOs.
Speaking in his opening remarks, Chairman of the Steering Committee of LOGNet, John Nkaw, outlines some challenges confronting effective local governance delivery that needed urgent address.
Admitting the importance of the role of local governance for socio-economic drive of the country, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, assured the leadership of government’s dedication towards the enhancement of local governance delivery to the people, and asked that checks of the ministry should be extended to development authorities.
