The Office of the Vice President joined communities across the Volta Region over the Easter weekend to mark various traditional festivals, extend goodwill, and support ongoing development efforts.

At the Dzita Easter Grand Durbar in the Anloga District, the Vice President, Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, through her representative, Chief of Staff Mr. Alex Segbefia, conveyed warm wishes to the people. The festival, which has been celebrated since 1998, was highlighted by the presence of the Awomefia, Torgbui Sri III, and offered a platform to address critical local concerns.

Mr. Segbefia commended the community on the completion of the Dzita EP Basic School, describing it as a significant milestone in local educational development. He further assured the people of the government’s commitment to addressing pressing issues, including road infrastructure and sea erosion that threatens lives and property along the coastline.

Residents of Dzita also called on government support for the Anloga, Tegbi, and Woe Water Project and renewed appeals for sea defense interventions to curb the persistent tidal wave erosion.

In Kedzi-Zewukope, within the Keta Municipality, the Vice President’s delegation joined the 55th edition of the Norvikpogbeza Festival. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Segbefia emphasized the government’s recognition of community-led development and tourism initiatives spearheaded by the Kedzi Traditional Authority. The tour continued with a visit to Alakple, where the Chief of Staff and the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, supported a fundraising effort toward constructing inner roads and a CHPS compound for the community.

At Sakpakukope in the Akatsi South Municipality, the delegation participated in traditional rites for the Torgbui Sakpaku and Torgbui Guadzi stools, reinforcing the Office’s support for cultural preservation and unity.
