Investigation Clears Nordiq, Confirms Local ManufacturingProbe Debunks Claims Against Nordiq Hygiene Care LOCAL NEWS by panafricantv - July 16, 2026July 16, 20260 Journalists’ Investigation Confirms Nordiq Manufactures Locally, Debunks False ClaimsAn independent investigation by a team of journalists has established that Nordiq Hygiene Care Industry is indeed manufacturing sanitary pads locally in Ghana, contrary to allegations questioning the company’s manufacturing operations. The investigative team, drawn from The Insight and The Daily Democrat newspapers, conducted an unannounced inspection of Nordiq’s production facility at the Tema Free Zones Enclave ahead of the upcoming government tender for sanitary pad supplies, to verify local manufacturing claims before contracts are awarded.During the inspection, the journalists were granted unrestricted access to the factory, where they witnessed every stage of the production process—from the receipt of imported raw materials, a large quantities of different kind of raw material was observed in the factory, to the conversion, processing, assembly, packaging and storage of finished sanitary pads. The team observed sophisticated production machinery in operation and verified that the company manufactures its sanitary pads locally before packaging them for distribution under strict quality control and hygiene standards. The investigation found that Nordiq has become one of Ghana’s leading employers within the hygiene manufacturing sector. More than 300 Ghanaians, the majority of them women, are currently employed at the company’s manufacturing facility. Journalists observed employees working across various sections of the factory, including raw material preparation, production, quality assurance, packaging, warehousing and logistics. The investigative team also confirmed the company’s commitment to inclusive employment, with persons living with disabilities actively engaged in meaningful roles across the production line alongside other employees. One of the significant findings of the investigation was Nordiq’s deliberate decision to prioritise employment over automation. Although the company has the technological capacity to automate its packaging operations, management opted for manual sealing and packaging to create more jobs for Ghanaians along with its automated packaging facilities. This decision has generated employment not only within Nordiq but also for local packaging manufacturers supplying materials to the company. The journalists further established that Nordiq complied with statutory labour obligations during the implementation of the government’s sanitary pad programme and continues to expand its permanent workforce as production grows. The inspection found no evidence to support allegations that the company merely imports finished sanitary pads. Instead, investigators concluded that the claims were false, misleading and inconsistent with the physical evidence observed at the manufacturing facility.Beyond manufacturing affordable sanitary pads, Nordiq has played a critical role in supporting the Government’s efforts to combat period poverty by ensuring millions of schoolgirls have access to quality menstrual hygiene products. The company has simultaneously strengthened local industry, reduced dependence on imported finished products and contributed to the objectives of the government’s 24-hour economy initiative. The investigation concludes that Nordiq Hygiene Care Industry represents a growing example of successful Ghanaian manufacturing, demonstrating that local companies can produce internationally competitive hygiene products while creating employment opportunities and supporting national economic development.
