One arrested for attempted motorbike robbery at Agorve near Akatsi

The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old Eyram Botwe, alleged to have attempted robbing a Haujue motorbike from a commercial rider at Agorve near Akatsi in the region.

Eyram Botwe is currently in police custody assisting the Akatsi District Police in their investigations.

Eyram Botwe was arrested on Wednesday January 19, 2022 by members of Agorve community after he sprayed pepper-powder into the eyes of a commercial motor rider, causing both the suspect (pillion) and the rider to fall to the ground.

Eyram engaged the services of the rider to convey him from AKatsi to Agorveh. On reaching a section of the road near Agorve township, he carried out the planned nefarious act and attempted escaping with the motorbike.

A shout for help by the victim attracted the community members who came to his rescue and arrested the culprit.

Meanwhile these attacks per similar modus operandi have become a trend in the region and commercial motor riders must guard against such situations.

Culprit is currently in Police custody assisting investigation and will appear before court today.

Assistant PRO of the service, Inspector Prince Dogbatse says they are determined in fighting and addressing crime issues in the region and advice riders in the region to be weary of such situation.
