In a spirited display of support to curb crime and gangsterism which has reached nightmarish proportions, a newly commissioned Police Station in Abelemkpe has been handed over to the Ghana Police Service.
The initiative was the brainchild of Teddy Kwei Badoo Assembly Member of the area who has vowed to clamp down on crime which has increased considerably.
Addressing the gathering, Nima District Police Commander, ACP Eric Asamoah Asiedu who Ghana Police Service assured the community that the Police would uphold their duties with professionalism to maintain peace and stability and advised the officers stationed at the newly facility to adhere to rules and regulations governing the Ghana Police Service.
He commended the Assemblyman and supporters of the facility, noting that they addressed longstanding facility challenges facing the community and appreciated the importance of the regular maintenance to ensure the longevity of the station.
The new edifice houses both male and female cell, a counter, armory and offices for senior officers of the Ghana Police Service.
Notable persons who graced the ceremony were, the parliamentary candidate of the oppositional National Democratic Congress, John Dumelo, the Osu Wulomo, Nii Gbobli among others.
