The downturn in economic conditions coupled with an inordinate preference for foreign goods has severely affected the sale of items in most parts of the country.

For most traders, the situation has gone from far to worse highlighting a significant drop in patronage.

At Accra Central, some expressed frustration over how it has adversely impacted their livelihoods and businesses.

According to Alhassan, his business has suffered a nosedive compared to last year.

“I sell footwear and other essential items, but the demand is low. We used to have robust sales, but now, we consider ourselves fortunate if a quarter of our stock is sold. It’s taking a toll on us, “Justice Ofori another trader lamented.

The prevailing economic hardship has led to a decrease in disposable income for many consumers.

Traders are calling on the government and relevant stakeholders to provide support through initiatives that could enhance their sales and help sustain their businesses.
